FAQ
Redistribution is an innovative fundraising platform, based on fairness and democratic principles, that works for everyone. In fact, Redistribution is the only fundraising platform where campaigns automatically cooperate to help each other raise money and influencers, news media, social media users, etc. are paid to make campaigns go viral!
For Campaign Creators—
Users may create one campaign per week, each with a maximum goal amount of $100,000.
Campaigns begin with 100 Views Remaining and are shown to potential donors in a random, non-repeating order while “live.” As a result, instead of competing against each other, Redistribution campaigns help each other raise money.
When everyone shares their own campaign, they each bring in viewers and donors that allow every campaign to be seen and raise money. Share your campaign with whomever you can, recruit affiliates to help you share your campaign, and we’ll do the rest!
For Donors—
Campaign viewers may augment the Views Remaining of any live campaign by doing the following:
- Redistributing, which increases the number of Views Remaining by 10.
- Upvoting, which increases the number of Views Remaining by 1.
- Downvoting, which decreases the number of Views Remaining by 1.
Campaigns are no longer “live” when the goal is reached or there are 0 Views Remaining. Such campaigns are no longer shown to potential donors, preventing them from raising more money. In effect, campaign viewers and donors decide the fate of each campaign.
However, campaigns with 0 Views Remaining that have not yet reached their goal may be resurrected at any time, when others redistribute to them (see “What is a reID?” below). Each redistribution received increases the number of Views Remaining by 10, making the campaign “live” again and allowing it to continue being seen by potential donors.
During sign-up, each user creates a personalized identifier called the reID, or Redistribution ID. The reID may be used to quickly and easily find specific users and their campaigns by using the “Search by reID” function in the app menu.
Even if a campaign has 0 Views Remaining, it may be found via Search by reID. Campaigns found in this manner may receive redistributions but may not be upvoted or downvoted. As such, the reID may be safely shared with others, including family and friends, as well as publicized across social media, text, emails, websites, forums, news articles, newsletters, signs, fliers, pamphlets, other written materials, etc.
By sharing their reID, campaign creators may quickly reach likely donors, whose redistributions greatly increase the number of Views Remaining, allowing their campaign to gain the widest possible audience.
By sharing your reID, new users may enter it into the reID Referral Code form, during account creation. Each new user referred in this way increases the number of Views Remaining on your campaign by 4 (max 1000). Additionally, they may use the Search by reID function (found in the app menu) to search for and redistribute to your campaign, further increasing the number of Views Remaining by 10.
With each new user referred and redistribution received, your campaign will gain Views Remaining and continue being shown to potential donors, whose upvotes and redistributions will also increase the number of Views Remaining and allow your campaign to snowball to success.
It’s surprisingly easy to get started.
Download the Redistribution app for free on the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android). Within minutes, your campaign for up to $100,000 could be “live” and being seen by potential donors, or you could be viewing the campaigns of others and controlling the distribution of funding.
Currently, we are only serving customers in the United States of America.
No. Redistribution is designed to give everyone’s campaign an equal opportunity to be seen and equitable results in their outcome.
If in doubt, upvote. Upvoting increases the number of Views Remaining by 1, allowing others to participate in the decision-making process.
No. However, the last ten campaigns that you upvoted are saved in Upvoted Campaigns and all campaigns that you funded that have not yet been removed are saved in Funded Campaigns. Both Upvoted Campaigns and Funded Campaigns may be found in the app menu.
Redistribution is for personal causes. You can raise money for yourself, your family and friends as well as any other individual, group, organization, or business.
No. Redistribution allows individuals to raise funds on behalf of beneficiaries, groups, organizations, businesses, or themselves. However, non-profits and charities are not allowed to raise money directly for themselves.
Yes. You may raise more than $100,000 on both a per campaign basis and a per user basis.
Per Campaign: we will help you raise up to $100,000. However, once your campaign’s goal amount is reached, your campaign will lose any accumulated Views Remaining and no longer be “live.” To continue raising money, you may solicit funds directly from others via link sharing and Search by reID. To share your campaign via link sharing, press the Share button in the top-right corner of your campaign card to generate a direct link to your campaign. Then, simply share this link with others and across social media. When you share your reID with others, they may use the Search by reID function (found in the app menu) to easily find your campaign and redistribute to it. There is no limit to the amount of money that may be raised by these methods.
Per User: you may create an unlimited number of campaigns. However, you may only create one campaign per week, and only one campaign may be active at a time. In this way, you may continue raising money over time.
Create a campaign to start raising money. Within minutes, your campaign will be “live” and being seen by potential donors.
IMPORTANT: You must share your campaign and connect Stripe after creating a campaign.
After creating a campaign, you must share your campaign and connect Stripe. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of any funds earmarked for your campaign. Forfeited funds will be returned and cannot be recovered.
Here’s why: Redistribution campaigns automatically cooperate to help each other raise money when everyone shares their campaign. To be fair, your campaign must be shared to be eligible to raise money from donors brought onboard by the efforts of other campaign creators. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of any funds earmarked for your campaign. Forfeited funds will be returned and cannot be recovered. You will receive nothing.
If you can’t share your campaign, recruit affiliates to share your campaign for you. We’ll pay them to help you raise money!
Moreover, Stripe is our payment processor and is required to receive the money redistributed to your campaign.
To share your campaign, press the Share button in the top-right corner of your campaign card to generate a direct link to your campaign, then simply share this link with others and across social media. Alternatively, you may safely share your reID with others and across social media to allow anyone to easily find your campaign via Search by reID (found in the app menu).
Remember, we’ll pay anyone that shares your campaign and helps you raise money. Tell everyone to join the Redistribution Affiliate Program, then to share your campaign. You’ll earn money for your cause and they’ll earn money for helping you. It’s a win-win!
With each new user referred and redistribution received through sharing, your campaign will gain Views Remaining and continue being shown to potential donors, whose upvotes and redistributions will also increase the number of Views Remaining and allow your campaign to snowball to success.
Yes. Using your reID, others may quickly find your campaign via Search by reID (found in the app menu).
By sharing your reID, you may quickly reach likely donors, whose redistributions greatly increase the number of Views Remaining, allowing your campaign to gain the widest possible audience.
Yes. After submitting a campaign on Redistribution, you must share your campaign and connect Stripe. Stripe requires that you have a bank account to receive the redistributed funds. Please review Stripe’s bank account requirements to determine what type of bank account is required.
There are many reputable banking solutions that have few requirements to get started. While we do not provide any financial advice or banking recommendations, this is usually not a significant barrier to overcome. If you anticipate any difficulty in obtaining an appropriate bank account, please begin this task immediately.
The platform is provided to users for free to download and access. However, transaction fees apply when you use our services to raise money.
There are two types of transaction fees: service fees and processing fees. For using our services, we charge a 15% service fee whenever you raise money. Here’s how that fee breaks down:
- 10% promotion fee – We pay influencers, news media, social media users, etc. to help campaigns raise money and go viral. This fee invests everyone in the success of your campaign. Anyone may become an affiliate in minutes and get paid to help campaigns raise money, allowing Redistribution campaigns to raise more money than they would on their own. This fee is also used to promote the platform. Since campaigns are viewed in a random, non-repeating order, every campaign benefits from the growth of the platform. Furthermore, Redistribution is a cooperative fundraising platform: every campaign must be shared, and every shared campaign helps all other campaigns gain viewership and raise money. By promoting the platform to onboard campaign creators, referrers, affiliates, and donors, every campaign may get attention and gain the support of affiliates, helping them each raise money and reach their goal.
- 5% platform fee – To support and maintain the platform, we collect a fee. We believe in sustainable and responsible business practices. A sensible fee structure provides stability for our team and affords us the ability to innovate, push the industry forward, and go beyond fundraising.
Our payment processor, Stripe, charges processing fees for the use of their services, including processing payments made to your campaign. To learn more about Stripe’s fees, please visit their website.
We provide a disruptive and transformative service not offered by other fundraising platforms.
Consider how many people are struggling financially right now, without the means or ability to reach potential donors. On traditional fundraising platforms, campaigns exist in silos and campaign creators must rely on their own marketing skills and social network to raise money. Such limitations effectively exclude large portions of the population, whose campaigns are either never seen or ignored in favor of whatever is trending.
Redistribution has been designed from the ground up to be a cooperative fundraising platform, on which:
- Every campaign is given an equal opportunity to succeed
- Campaigns help each other raise money
- No one is left behind
As a result, our platform allows anyone to more easily get attention, recruit others to promote their cause, gain viewership, and access redistributed capital. The fees we collect allow us to provide such a service.
You must connect Stripe after creating a campaign. This will allow you to access the Stripe Express Dashboard, from which you may access the funds raised by your campaign.
After successfully connecting Stripe, you will be able to access the Stripe Express Dashboard, where you will receive up-to-date information about transfers and payouts to your account.
We are unable to provide any specific tax advice. Donations are usually considered “personal gifts,” which are generally not taxed as income, and we will not report the funds you receive as earned income. Please consult a tax professional for advice.
You may enroll via the banner displayed on the homepage. Please note this is a limited enrollment offer. If you wish to participate, do not wait to join as enrollment may close at any time.
Yes. We do not charge any fees to join the program.
Encourage others to create campaigns on the Redistribution app, then tell them to email referrals@redistribution.io with your reID to receive an extra +30 Views Remaining, allowing up to 30 additional people to view and fund their newly created campaign. They must complete this step within 48 hours (2 days) of creating a campaign, otherwise you will not be eligible to receive payment.
We’ll pay you 2% of the amount their campaign raises. Importantly, your payment comes from us—not them—and there are no limits to how much you may earn.
There is no limit to the number of new users you may refer to Redistribution.
You will receive your earnings via PayPal.
Payment is provided monthly for the amount earned in the previous month.
Refer all individuals, groups, organizations, and businesses interested in raising money. If they’ve recently created a fundraising campaign elsewhere, they may reproduce their campaign on Redistribution in minutes. They have nothing to lose and stand to raise significantly more money. This is because everyone is incentivized to share their campaign and help them raise money through the Redistribution Affiliate Program.
Yes, you may sign up for the Redistribution Affiliate Program in the app at any time. By joining both the Redistribution Business Referral Program and the Redistribution Affiliate Program, you will earn 2% of the amount raised by the campaign of each new user you refer to Redistribution and an additional 8% whenever you help campaigns raise money (earn up to 10% total)!
